Your data
Delete your account
You can delete your For the Record account and all of the data on our servers at any time, right in the app. It takes under a minute and happens immediately.
Delete in the app
- If you have Plus, cancel the subscription first. Deleting your account does not stop Apple billing. Open iOS Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and cancel For the Record Plus. (Lifetime never renews, so there is nothing to cancel.)
- Optional: save a copy first. Go to Profile, then Account, then Export everything (JSON) and save the file somewhere safe. Deletion cannot be undone.
- Open For the Record and go to the Profile tab.
- Tap Account.
- Tap Delete account.
- Confirm. Your account and all of its server data are deleted immediately and you are signed out.
What gets deleted
- Your account, email address and user ID
- Your profile: name, handle, bio and four favorites
- Every rating, like, listen, review, tag, diary entry and list
- Your Listen Later queue and your Crate (library contents)
- Your follows, the likes you gave, and the reports and blocks you filed
Your public reviews disappear from other members' feeds and from album pages. Copies can remain in our hosting provider's encrypted disaster-recovery backups until those expire on their normal rotation (no more than 30 days); they are not used for anything else. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
Your Plus purchase belongs to your Apple Account, not to your For the Record account, so it is not affected by deletion. Ad and affiliate data held by Google, Amazon or Apple is covered by their own policies; we hold none of it.
Delete by email
If you cannot reach the app (for example, you no longer have the device), email elevaresolutionspro@gmail.com with the subject Delete my account. Include:
- your handle, and
- the sign-in method you used (Apple, Google, or email and password).
Send it from the email address on your account if you can. If you used Sign in with Apple with "Hide My Email", tell us your handle and we will confirm another way. We will verify that the request comes from the account owner and complete the deletion within 30 days, usually much sooner, then reply to confirm.
If you never made an account
Without an account, everything is stored only on your iPhone and we have none of it. Delete the app to delete that data.
Tidy up connected services (optional)
Deleting your account removes our data. These steps remove permissions you gave other services:
- Spotify: disconnecting in the app removes the Spotify tokens stored on your device. Disconnect before you delete the app, because iOS can keep Keychain items after an app is removed. To revoke access on Spotify's side too, go to your Spotify account page, open the apps you have given access to, and remove For the Record.
- Apple Music: in iOS Settings, go to Privacy & Security, then Media & Apple Music, and turn off For the Record.
- Sign in with Apple: in iOS Settings, tap your name, then Sign-In & Security, then Sign in with Apple, choose For the Record and stop using it.
- Google: in your Google Account, open the list of third-party apps with account access and remove For the Record.
